The Women's Club

Chair and Contact Person: Rita Ille 321-1376

The Women's Club was formed as the Ladies Altar Society in 1894. This Club is dedicated to providing services to the parish as well as a spiritual community for its members. We currently have approximately 100 members, many of whom are also members of five guilds that work within the club : St. Bernadette, St. Bridget, St. Monica, St. Therese and St. Veronica. The Women's Club provides many services to the parish community and each service offers a different approach to ministry.

The Women's Club has provided meals for family and friends after funeral Masses since 1902. At least twice a month members visit nursing homes in Norman, to visit parish members, conduct Bingo games and offer Communion. The Women's Club assists in purchasing the bread and wine for all church services as well as supplies for the altar including candles and liners. We maintain the Vigil Lights, sew and embroider the Baptismal and Acolyte Robes. St. Monica Guild has overseen the cleaning of the church since 1968.

The Women's Club operates a thrift shop that is open to the public every Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We host a reception following Confirmation masses for the new confirmed and their families. We also host receptions throughout the year for special occasions. We organized a prayer network for the sick and those in need of spiritual support. We grant special requests for funding an support for groups like the Youth Group, Birth Choice, Food and Shelter for Friends, and other charity organizations. The Women's Club awards a $500.00 scholarship to a graduating senior from the parish annually.

The Women's Club is completely self supporting in all of the services we offer to the parish. We raise funds through many actives including the Annual Thanksgiving dinner hosted since 1920, a community wide craft show, collecting receipts from IGA Grocery stores (you can place them in the collection baskets) and the Thrift Shop. We thank you for supporting our fund raising efforts over the years!
