What is Stewardship? "A Christian steward is one who receives
God's gifts gratefully, cherishes them and attends them in a responsible
and accountable manner, and returns them with increase to the Lord
by sharing them in justice and love with others."- U.S. Bishops'
pastoral letter, 1992, "Stewardship A Disciples' Response"
The mission of the Stewardship Board is to create awareness throughout
the Parish and community of the call to all Christians to act as
Stewards. Through practicing Stewardship, we share responsibility
in carrying out the mission of Christ. Every person has unique gifts
from God and is responsible for returning a portion of those gifts
to build up His Church in our Parish and accomplish His mission
in our community.
The Stewardship Board strives to accomplish it's mission by providing
the parishioners with opportunities to be good Stewards. We begin
the stewardship process in November with Stewardship of Prayer where
each member of the parish was asked to commit to one hour a week
in prayer. Our next step is Stewardship of Ministry, in May when
we ask each member of the parish to give one hour a week of their
time to St. Joseph's by volunteering for one of the many ministries
available. The third step is Stewardship of Finance which is held
in mid October. At that time we ask each family to assess their
monetary gifts and give back a portion to God. Each year you will
have the opportunity to renew your commitments to Prayer, Ministry
and Finance.
"No one shall appear before the Lord empty-handed, but each
of you with as much as he can give, in proportion to the blessings
which the Lord, God has bestowed on you."
